My client requires an experienced Team Manager in the Children’s Social Work Service.


The post holder will act as the Team Manager and will be directly line managed by the Service Manager for Case Management & Children’s Social Work who will be responsible for their health and safety, training and development.

The main purpose of this role is so that you will support the development and delivery of the Council’s vision, values and strategic objectives evidenced through sound strong leadership skills in further developing the team and service identity.


  • Responsibility for contributing to the strategic developments of practice within Children’s Social Work across the Council and Partners.
  • Represent Children’s Services as senior operational and strategic forums to promote Safeguarding working together practice.
  • Overall allocation and workload management for teams
  • Compliance with LAC/Child Protection/CIN procedures/processes that are applicable to your service.
  • Record keeping conforms to Shropshire Council policy and procedures.
  • Procedures are kept up to date, including SC Tri –X procedures
  • The progression of robust care planning for children and young people.
  • To annually review and update allowances paid to care leavers and supportive lodging providers
  • Agree, monitor and approve payments (electronic and paper systems)
  • Maintain excellent links and regular overview of teams’ expenditure with finance colleagues
  • Regular auditing of case records
  • To report on Shropshire Council performance in relation to National Indicators
  • To provide reports as required
  • To contribute to the collection of data in relation to specific targets, such as homelessness, teenage pregnancy, UASC,to collect data that demonstrates unmet need
  • To contribute to the planning and development of services, including any future consideration that may be given to emerging national developments such as Social Work Practice (SWP’s.) This will require the post holder to have strong leadership skills and to adopt a visionary position to support any future developments
  • To work with others contributing to planning and delivery of services, such as transition; teenage pregnancy; housing options; supported housing (tenancy support; DV; M Health); substance misuse; mental health and youth offending.
