Hours: 3 days per week (flexible – can be worked around you), 9:00am – 3:00pm
Contract: Fixed term, 6–9 months, Maternity Cover
Start Date: Week commencing Monday 2nd March 2026
Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour

A well-established construction business with over 50 years of industry experience is looking for an Accounts Assistant to cover maternity leave. This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and supportive finance team within a long-standing and reputable organisation.

The role offers excellent flexibility, with three working days available per week, which can be agreed to suit your availability.

Role Overview

You will support the day-to-day running of the purchase ledger, ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately, payments are made on time, and records are kept up to date. The role requires good attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks efficiently within a small finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing supplier invoices and payments
  • Reconciling supplier statements using Sage
  • Resolving invoice queries
  • Sending invoices for approval
  • Preparing weekly supplier payment runs
  • Setting up new suppliers
  • Issuing remittances
  • Matching delivery notes to invoices
  • Managing the accounts inbox

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in an accounts or purchase ledger role
  • Sage 50 Accounts experience
  • Confident using Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
