School Cook – Temp to Perm
Location: School-based role
Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour
Hours: 3–4 days per week | 8.5-hour shifts
Job Type: Temporary to Permanent
Job Description
We are recruiting an experienced School Cook to join a school catering team on a temp-to-perm basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for 200+ pupils and staff
- Manage day-to-day kitchen duties
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health & safety
- Work as part of a supportive school team
Working Hours
- 3–4 days per week
- 8.5-hour shifts
- Evening shifts up to 7:30pm
- Some weekend work
- Typically Monday–Thursday
Requirements
- Experience cooking for large volumes (200+ people) – essential
- Relevant cook/chef qualification – essential
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene
- Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
- Experience in a school or similar catering environment is desirable
- Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain)
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures
